I came to work for Opelousas and HFO this summer because they have a piece of my heart. Education is something that has always been very important to me and I truly believe in HFO’s mission. Having spent a few weeks here over Spring Break, I have personally seen how HFO impacts kids and what a great organization it is. I am so incredibly excited to be a part of HFO and work within the community of Opelousas.
— Dana Kleinjan, 2014 Summer Intern

One of the best ways to grow the passion for non-profit service is through relationships with young people!

We offer annual summer internships to individuals who have had experience serving with HFO. This internship is a great way to stay in touch with HFO and gain more in-depth experience working in the Opelousas community.

Some summer projects include building curriculum for the following school year, working with community programming, attending enrichment trips with our current students, and intern training. This five-week internship includes housing, meals, and a small weekly stipend. Internship hours are 8:30-5 Monday-Thursday  & 9-noon on Fridays.

2018 Internship runs from June 25-July 27.

To express your interest in this internship please fill out the summer intern application!
